The Outernet was the equivalent of the Internet, but connected planetary systems with systems off-planet, such as satellites and Astral Gate systems.
Edward used the Outernet to access Earth's Astral Gate, finding out that the Bebop was arriving. She later used it to access satellite systems and found MPU.[1]
One could play E-chess with others on the Outernet.[2]
